Welcome to the VCON 38 Programming Schedule.

Every year, VCON’s crack Programming team assembles three days jam-packed with the best in panels, workshops, and events to keep you in geek nirvana. We hope that you are as excited by the panels, discussions, workshops and presentations we have on offer this year as we are!

Corsetry Construction

Materials fee: $20
Workshop Duration: 3 hrs

Corsetry expert Andrea Painter will instruct and assist participants in a variety of useful sewing techniques for corset construction. Participants will get hands-on practice and will take home a "sampler" of techniques that they can then apply to the construction of their very own corset.

Fabric and notions will be supplied, but participants are expected to bring their own sewing machines, some minor notions and should have at least basic sewing experience.

Each participant must bring:


  • A sewing machine that works (that you know how to work!), with standard and zipper foot.

  • Straight pins

  • Sewing snips/sheers

  • Basic thread and full bobbin


(If you would like to participate but do not have access to a portable sewing machine please contact the VCON programming director - programming@vcon.ca - to discuss options.)

Participants are also encouraged to bring the following items if they have them available:



  • Tailoring ham

  • Iron & small ironing board

  • Small extension cord.
