Welcome to the VCON 38 Programming Schedule.

Every year, VCON’s crack Programming team assembles three days jam-packed with the best in panels, workshops, and events to keep you in geek nirvana. We hope that you are as excited by the panels, discussions, workshops and presentations we have on offer this year as we are!

Workshop Duration: 3 hrs.

Attention beginning writers! Have a sample of your writing critiqued by professional authors in a Clarion-style workshop at VCON 38!

Participants submit an original, unpublished, short science fiction or fantasy story 5,000 words or less in length, or the first 5,000 words of the opening chapter of a science fiction or fantasy novel prior to the workshop and then, during the workshop, their writing is critiqued by the participating professional authors.

Fanzine Editor 30+ years, publishes semi-pro SF fiction zine Polar Borealis, won two Aurora Awards, and writes fanzine review column for Amazing Stories.


Donna Farley

Donna Farley's short fiction has appeared in magazines such as Weird Tales, On Spec, Realms of Fantasy and Cicada as well as several anthologies. She has taught fiction workshops with Surrey Continuing Education and is the author of a Viking Age historical novel for young adults, Bearing the Saint as well as a picture book, The Ravens of Farne.

Mur is a VCON 38 Author Guest of Honour. In addition to writing she is a podcaster and voice actor. She is the recipient of the 2013 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre.

Dan Wells

Dan Wells is a VCON 38 Author Guest of Honour. He has written the young adult horror "John Cleaver" trilogy (I Am Not A Serial Killer, Mr. Monster, & I Don't Want to Kill You) and is currently writing the young adult science fiction "Partials" series (Partials, & Fragments)
