Every year, VCON’s crack Programming team assembles three days jam-packed with the best in panels, workshops, and events to keep you in geek nirvana. We hope that you are as excited by the panels, discussions, workshops and presentations we have on offer this year as we are!

Host Lisa Smedman (who teaches game design at the Art Institute of Vancouver) will offer tips on how to design games to make them replayable, interactive and fun.

Participants will be grouped into teams and each team will be given bits and pieces from various board games and asked to create the rules for a game that can be played with those pieces. Teams will then then play the games, and the winner of each game will be allowed to take the finished product home.


Lisa Smedman

Lisa Smedman is an editor and a science fiction and fantasy novelist. Her most well-known work is Extinction, a novel set in the Forgotten Realms universe. Lisa is also one of the founders of Adventures Unlimited, a magazine providing scenarios and tips for role-playing games.
