Home Recording 101: Using the Kit You Built

You've put together a recording kit - you have a couple of good microphones, a sound interface, and some sort of digital audio workstation software. Now, what do you _do_ with them? Our panel of musicians and recording engineers talk about the very basics of recording and mixing for both music and podcasts: room conditioning, setting up microphones, and levels, equalisation, compression, and sound "placement" for effect. We'll talk about some common pitfalls, and hopefully give you avoid some common initial mistakes.
